Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation 5 console at their E3 2019 Press Conference. Sony announced that their next-generation console Playstation 5, will support ray tracing, and it’ll be available sometime shortly. This means developers can easily add ray tracing support to their games, and users can experience better graphics and other improvements.
Let’s first understand what ray tracing is?
Ray tracing is the most realistic rendering technique that has been developed. Computer scientists and graphics engineers use it to create photo-realistic images that look more realistic than they are. The purpose of ray tracing is to make it possible for games and films to develop real-life ideas and how light and shadow react within them. Ray Tracing is one of the most prominent features that are available on the next-gen PlayStation console. This new feature is called real-time ray tracing in Playstation 5. It gives visual representation or support for artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and also high-resolution graphics.
How will ray tracing be on Playstaion 5?
Ray tracing is the newest feature that you’ll get on your PlayStation console. A leak has revealed that the Playstation 5 will have an API called “Ray Tracing API” integrated into all games. We do not know what API games use now, but if they switch to this API, they will start supporting ray tracing.
The PS5 game list has just spawned a new one, following the recent announcement by Sony regarding Projekt X. Ray tracing is now officially supported on the PS5, meaning that developers can now include it in their games. Ray tracing makes 3D graphics more realistic than ever before, though the PS5 raytracing effect will not be identical to what you see in Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition.
